In a Facebook group for other thrifty Dollar Tree shoppers, they shared a picture of the product.

The product is simply called “bathroom cleaner” with no clear brand name.

The customer said it was effective on their bathtub.

“I sprayed, left a few minutes and rinsed out,” they said. “Tub was sparkling clean.”

“That’s awesome,” one commenter replied.

The shopper confirmed in the comments that it has a typical cleaning-product smell.

“I would say it has a typical cleaning smell with a bit of citrus but not overly pungent,” they said.

The exact product they posted does not appear on Dollar Tree’s website, and the U.S. Sun could not independently verify that the product is currently for sale at the company's stores.

PRICE POINTS

At $2, the dollar-store cleaner was cheaper than brand name cleaners at many other stores.

At Target, a bottle of Clorox disinfecting bathroom cleaner costs about $5.

Dollar Tree’s viral $1.25 crystal knobs are flying off shelves – they’re identical to Walmart but half the price cheaper

However, it’s unclear how different the ingredients may be.

Clorox is a disinfecting cleaner, promising on its packaging to kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria.

It’s unknown if Dollar Tree’s cleaner makes the same claim.

However, at 40% the cost of Target Clorox, some shoppers were excited by the post.

It garnered over 50 likes.

It can be worthwhile to compare ingredients on any two products before determining whether it’s an effective dupe for you.

DOLLAR DISRUPTION

The dollar store industry has been in flux recently, as rising prices has made the business model tricky to sustain.

In March, Dollar Tree announced it would close 1,000 underperforming stores

That included Family Dollar locations, which are owned by Dollar Tree.

However, the company is set to open some former 99 Cents Only store locations.

This year, Dollar Tree increased its prices.

Dollar General is facing a $12 million OSHA settlement.

At least 1,000 dollar stores to close, CEO says

Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar, revealed it would close around 1,000 stores in the coming years.

The company announced in March that it will shutter the stores after the discount retailer it acquired nearly a decade ago plummeted in value.

Dollar Tree plans to close about 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of this year.

This will be followed by the shuttering of 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree stores over the next several years.

The chain of discount variety stores has also indicated that sales are being affected by the cost-of-living crisis and inflation.

But USA Today added that Dollar Tree has also been rocked by reduced government benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

This has left families struggling to juggle finances, with as much as $250 less per month.
