VOWEL RUDE!

Pat Sajak mocks Wheel of Fortune contestant’s voice and asks ‘was that a squeak?’ in cringeworthy moment

The host of 40 years is retiring in June 2024 as Ryan Seacrest takes over

WHEEL of Fortune host Pat Sajak has gotten a laugh at a player's expense during the latest episode of the iconic game show.

The soon-to-retire TV presenter couldn't resist when Latoya requested to buy an unusually high-pitched "E!"

Latoya, who revealed she's tried out for Wheel of Fortune three times, faced Vicky, who has allegedly never had a cup of coffee, and father-of-one Kevin on Thursday, February 22's episode.

Latoya had control under a puzzle categorized as “Same Name” when she decided to buy a vowel.

“I would like to buy a vowel, E!” with the "E!" portion said in a raspy, upward inflection that permeated the studio.

Pat, 77, could be heard laughing and bluntly asked: “Was that an E or a squeak? I couldn't tell.”

There was indeed one "E" in the puzzle as Pat added: “Yeah, there you go.”

After a few more picks, or apparently too many for Pat’s liking, she solved it as “Nicolas & Rib Cage.”

“Good things are worth waiting for!" he added slightly sarcastically. "You’re on the board with $3000."

Latoya did not get the highest score and thus didn't go to the bonus round.

But it seemed there were no hard feelings, as Pat assured when dismissing her, “They did a wise thing having you!” and she grinned, looking starstruck.

SAJAK'S SASSY SENDOFF SEASON

Pat Sajak has spun out plenty of harsh comments during his last season as host, according to fans.

Last month, Pat mocked a contestant who struggled with a puzzle, comparing it to "pulling teeth."

He told another contestant who missed their bonus puzzle: "You were so not close."

And recently, fans were stunned when Pat "disrespectfully" screamed "shut up" at a contestant.

In the fall, the host gave it to the contestants after each made an incorrect guess on a puzzle.

He snarked to the player who solved it: “You were bound to get there eventually.

There are only so many words in the English language.”

“Aw!” another contestant could be heard yelling off-screen as the audience nervously laughed.

A winner from earlier this season exclusively told The U.S. Sun that he was outshining Pat with his charisma, causing the host to warn at a commercial break: "This is my show."

Pat is retiring at the end of the now-airing season in June 2024 to make way for Ryan Seacrest, who will begin hosting late this summer.

Meanwhile, Vanna White, 67, will keep turning letters for at least two more years under her hard-fought new contract.

However, the two seemingly patch things up and she was thrilled to have finally made it on the game show
