The nearly two-minute-long clip doesn't give much away about the animated flick, showing Moana on the beach before venturing off the island via boat, where she's joined by fan-favorite character, Maui.

However, viewers weren't pleased with how the rooster was supposedly being treated in the trailer.

At one point, Moana threw the bird out of what appeared to be a cave after discovering it was the culprit behind echoing pecking noises.

The rooster yelped while landing on its face before quickly getting up and walking away.

Later, the rooster returned as Maui tightly gripped it in his hand and threatened to make eggs with it during his and Moana's voyage at sea.

FANS' 'ABUSE' CLAIMS

The video circulated on a popular online thread where fans ripped Disney for seemingly making light of cruelty to animals.

"The rooster being thrown is heartbreaking for a child," one person wrote in the thread.

"Multiple instances of rooster abuse in the trailer for Moana 2. Another Disney picture to which I shall not be taking my child," said another.

Moana 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27.

The U.S. Sun reached out to Disney for a comment but has not heard back.

Disney releasing surprise sequel to animated film just months from now after hit movie dominated at Oscars & box office

In February, Disney shocked fans when they announced that the Oscar-winning film was getting a sequel.

They shared a 17-second clip of the film, showing Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) and her pal Maui (voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson).

"Well this is very sudden, but we will be watching!" one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This is so out of left field honestly," a second agreed.

The Characters of Moana

Disney's Moana dominated the box office, raking in millions upon its release in November 2016. Due to its massive popularity, the movie got the green light for a sequel and a live-action production featuring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, the voice of Maui in the animated movie. Here's more about the lead cast of Moana:

Auli'i Cravalho

Auli'i was cast as the voice of the lead character Moana when she was 14 years old. The Hawaii native made her acting debut with the film and has since appeared in a slew of other productions, including the 2024 remake of Mean Girls.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

Dwayne initially made a name for himself in the WWE as a professional wrestler before breaking into the acting world. He's starred in countless films, including The Fast & Furious franchise. The athlete also has many awards under his belt - one being the Teen Choice Award for his voiceover role in Moana in 2016.

"This is gonna be so good!" boasted a third.

"WHAT IVE BEEN ASKING FOR," applauded a fourth.

A live-action production of the movie is also in the works, featuring Dwayne, and will be released in late June 2025.

Auli'i revealed last May that she would not be reprising her role in the live version, but will be the executive producer.

THE LIVE-ACTION

"When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career," the actress told her Instagram followers.

"In this live action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital that the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell, so as an executive producer on the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit, and emotional strength," she ended.
