The first look comes as Season 2 of the prequel House of the Dragon just premiered on June 16.

The new show's image featured actor Peter Claffey as the main character, Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall.

The character walks through a busy Westeros-esque village, taking in the scenery.

This also means production on A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms has now kicked off in Belfast, Ireland.

'WHO ASKED FOR THIS?'

Not all internet users rushed to mark their calendars.

"Another spin-off?" one X user wrote when the photo made the rounds.

"How many more spinoffs are they going to make to undo their mistakes for season 8 of GOT???" wrote a second (referring to the infamous end of the original show that went off-book).

"Who asked for this??" posted a third.

"How many games of throne are we having," asked a fourth.

"Once again begging for an original idea," wrote a fifth.

However, others defended the adaptation, pointing out that it is based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg book series.

"Lowkey excited for this one. Book was great," they wrote.

"It’s wild how so many people thought this franchise was dead," an additional fan posted.

MORE ON THE NEW SHOW

The first image comes as five other actors have been confirmed for the cast of A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms.

Finn Bennett will play Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel will play Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford will play Tanselle, Daniel Ings will play Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell will play Maekar Targaryen.

Maekar Targaryen is the current ruler of Westeros in this timeline of Game of Thrones history.

It takes place a century before the events of the original series but after the events of House of the Dragon.

Maekar's son is Prince Aerion, and his brother is Prince Baelor. Ser Lyonel is the heir to Storm's End, who goes by the name of Laughing Storm.

As for Tanselle, a.k.a. Tanselle Too-Tall, she is a Dornish puppeteer.

They all join co-star Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, the name for Dunk's squire.

There will be six episodes in Season 1, each ostensibly an hour or longer.

Here’s the show’s synopsis from Warner Bros. Discovery: "A century before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

"Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the events of George R.R. Martin's series of Dunk and Egg novellas.
