NBC announced that there'll be no new Dateline episode airing this Friday, June 21.

Lovers of the true crime show have to wait until Friday, July 5, 2024 for the show to pick back up where it left off because of NBC's preparation to cover the 2024 Paris Olympics.

For a couple of weeks, NBC will be showing Olympic trials instead of the expected Dateline episodes that normally come out each Friday.

To hold its true crime fans over, NBC shared a tweet about its show that airs on a different network, Oxygen.

More on true crime

On Thursday, June 20 Dateline NBC made a tweet from its official X, formerly known as Twitter, account.

"Tonight at 8/7c on a new #Dateline: Unforgettable on @Oxygen," the announcement stated.

"@JoshMankiewicz breaks down the story of a pastor on Bainbridge Island, Washington who had a whole new take on the idea of “love thy neighbor."

On the other hand, true crime fans who watch ABC's 20/20 were also hit with unfortunate news about the show.

This Friday, June 21, ABC will not be releasing a new episode of 20/20 as anticipated by its regular watchers.

The show is giving up its airtime to air Game 6 of the NHL championship series, TV Regular reported.

What happened to LaNell Barsock?

According to ABC, it releases full episodes of 20/20 every Friday night on its own TV network and for fans to stream on Hulu.

That being said, the webpage for ABC 20/20 shows that the only episode aired in June 2024 so far came out on Friday, June 8.

There haven't been any other new airings of 20/20 this month.

This is because ABC has to fulfill its obligations to show the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers championship.

The ABC network had to tend to its hockey-related responsibilities on both Friday, June 24 and June 21.

It doesn't look like fans of 20/20 will have to wait as long as Dateline watchers to pick their favorite true crime show back up, though.

Those who enjoy watching ABC 20/20 should be happy to hear the show is returning with new episodes just next week, on June 28 at the time it normally airs, TV news network OnTheFlix reported.

ABC also reportedly cleared out its primetime schedule to provide live coverage of major sporting events, similar to NBC.

On Friday, June 14, ABC aired the 4th game of the 2024 NBA basketball Finals live.
