Chad, 42, played Lindsay's dreamy love interest, Jake, in the original movie.

Fans have been showing excitement over his return, with one even saying, "We won."

"That's important for fans," a second wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"Wow, that’s unexpected. I didn't think he’d come back for a sequel," a third said, while a fourth added, "Love to see him back."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAA IM SO FREAKING HAPPY," another exclaimed.

Along with Chad, fellow Freaky Friday stars Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will also be returning for the sequel.

The sequel will show characters Tess (Jamie) and her daughter Anna (Lindsay) years after their infamous body-switching debacle.

Anna now has a daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter, and as the film's official synopsis reads, "Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice."

Freaky Friday was a massive success, grossing $110 million from the domestic box office and $160 million globally.

It also became one of Lindsay's most well-known roles of her career, leading fans to be excited over the upcoming reprisal.

Freaky Friday 2 will also mark her return to theaters after a major acting hiatus.

She most recently returned to Hollywood in the Netflix rom-coms Falling For You and Irish Wish, the latter of which was released earlier this year.

Lindsay also made a cameo in the new Mean Girls movie, 20 years after starring as the lead Cady Heron in the original.

FILMING UNDERWAY

Freaky Friday 2 has already started filming, and Walt Disney Studios recently confirmed that the movie will be released sometime next year.

On Monday, Disney shared a photo of Lindsay and Jamie holding hands while sitting on the steps outside of their trailers.

"The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!" the caption read on X.

Jamie held up a rockstar gesture with her hand and stuck her tongue out while Lindsay smiled next to her.

In March, the Parent Trap star told People that the making of Freaky Friday 2 was underway, adding that she was "excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it."
