THE LOVE Island USA cast has multiple rules and regulations to follow before being invited on the show and during their time in the Villa, according to former islander, Coye Simmons.

Coye - who was the first of the Season 6 castmates to get the boot - exclusively spoke to The U.S. Sun about what goes on behind the scenes.

The Peacock reality series follows a group of single people in their quest to find love within the Villa while competing against each other for a $100,000 grand prize.

However, viewers only see a fraction of their journey, which is much longer than fans think.

Coye, 28, revealed that production contacted him via Instagram, expressing interest in having him join Season 6, which he initially didn't believe was a legitimate proposal.

"Somebody reached out to me from Instagram, and it was vague, and I was like, is this real?" the 6-foot-8 star confessed.

"I was like, why not give it the opportunity? It is cool, just being there and just being at the Villas, meeting new people, being in Fiji. It's a great experience. If you get a knock on the door, open it. Why not?" Coye added about eventually being open to the idea.

LENGTHY CASTING PROCESS

He soon learned that the process was more extensive than anybody realized.

Coye revealed that the group had to participate in a mandatory session with a psychiatrist and complete a questionnaire before being considered for the show.

After that, production flew Coye and his costars to Fiji two weeks before filming began, where they settled in and recorded promos, including the steamy show introduction of them posing seductively in swimwear on the beach.

Once they entered the Villa, privacy was no longer an option, as they were immediately strapped with microphones that they could only take off under certain circumstances.

"You can take your mic off in the pool. That's really the only time you can take your mic off. Even in the shower, there are cameras everywhere," Coye explained.

He also said that cell phones weren't allowed in the Villa, besides the phones given to them by production to take selfies and receive special texts.

As a result, none of the castmates could communicate with the outside world, including those who were voted off.

Additionally, Coye shared that the episodes are filmed in real-time, and everything happens in "a matter of days," which might be the most captivating aspect to viewers.

The show regularly brings new faces, called "bombshells," into the mix and forces couples to make heartbreaking decisions between their friends and romantic partners.

Coye also admitted to The U.S. Sun that things were not portrayed on TV as they appeared in real life, as producers kept quite a bit offscreen.

He referenced him being perceived as the "quiet one" on the show despite having a big personality on set.

The TV star also noted that many of his intimate moments with JaNa Craig, 27, whom he was coupled with throughout his time in the Villa, didn't make it to air.

"It's just one of those types of things like, honestly, they're trying to get everybody to be shown, but honestly, I wasn't shown like that," Coye reasoned.

Season 6 of Love Island USA - the first hosted by Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix - wraps up in August.
