Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks LIVE — Viewers slam show for having credits over finale sequence & say it was ‘too much’

THE annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks aired Thursday night - but some viewers aren't too happy with the display.

Some people thought that the show didn't highlight the fireworks, which was the whole point of the event.

"Somewhere along the way, and possibly over the years, @Macys
made me watch incredible performances alongside the fireworks and my mind was not blown bc then the finale had credits transposed over it. MACY’s. TOO MUCH. Separate the performances! Instrumentals with fireworks!" one viewer raged on social media.

"I used to always watch the #MacysFireworks but I couldn’t sit through it this year," someone else wrote. "I knew like 2 of the performers, meh, but then they barely show the actual fireworks. People aren’t tuning in to watch a concert. It’s called ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks’ for a reason."

Country singer Mickey Guyton hosted the broadcast alongside Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall.

Latin pop star Luis Fonsi opened the broadcast with a medley of his hit songs, including his viral anthem, Despacito.

Rising country star Shaboozey also performed his viral track, Bar Song.

Not only were fans angry over the show's delayed start time, but many slammed the lineup of performers.

  • Viewers slam the show after delayed start time

Host Zuri Hall explained during NBC's broadcast that the show started 10 minutes late due to "technical difficulties."

NBC filled the time with commercials for the upcoming Olympics and a clip from America's Got Talent.

The delay left viewers confused, with one noting, "Uhh @nbc I mean I love watching promos, but why has there been 5 mins of promos into an episode of AGT? What happened to the #MacysFireworks? It IS #4thofJuly."

"Where’s the show? Why am I only seeing commercials?" another X user questioned.

  • Mixed reactions to NBC’s broadcast, concluded

Although viewers gave NBC's broadcast harsh feedback, many did enjoy the show.

"Alex Newel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG what a breathtaking performance!!!" one added.

"Enjoyed the show as always!" another agreed.

"Incredible #MacysFireworks display. I don't know how they do it each year but they out do themselves from the year before," a third added.

  • Mixed reactions to NBC’s broadcast, continued

Many viewers weren't impressed by NBC's broadcast, with one writing on X, "Yet again the idea of watching fireworks is to see the fireworks and not the singers. The cameras should be directed at the fireworks- #Macys and #NBC do better!!"

"I have no idea what I just watched. They said to stay tuned for the 'big finale' commercial ended and they showed credits over the fireworks. What the heck," another wrote.

"Does anyone else get annoyed when the NBC 4th of July special has singers on stage when the fireworks are going off? I want to hear the fireworks, the singers can be before or after the event, not during," a third added.

  • Mixed reactions to NBC's broadcast

Viewers had mixed reactions to NBC's broadcast of Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks display.

"We need an explanation! Who approved this year's abominable coverage and lineup during the fireworks! We want to watch ONLY the fireworks, nothing/no one else.

"Why was that so hard to do? You've done it every other year perfectly! Do better next year," one wrote on X.

"Way to ruin our family tradition by failing to show the fireworks and setting what fireworks there are to a bunch of ridiculous unrelated songs," another agreed.
