Body found in Scots woods in search for missing 20-year-old

Police released an updated statement today

A BODY has been found in Scots woods in the search for a missing 20-year-old.

Nico McCann was last seen in Whiterigg Place, Airdrie, at around 11:15pm yesterday.

An urgent search was launched amid concerns over his welfare.

Police today confirmed a body was found in a wooded area at the rear of Broompark Crescent in Airdrie.

He has been formally identified as Nico.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1pm on Saturday, July 13, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area at the rear of Broompark Crescent in Airdrie.

"He has been formally identified as 20-year-old Nico McCann who was reported missing on Friday.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

Officers previously said his disappearance was "completely out of character".

It comes after a body was found in the search for a man who vanished from a Scots town yesterday.
