A TRIO of Rangers heroes were spotted at the club's game against Ajax today.

Philippe Clement's men lost 2-1 to the Eredivisie giants but were masters of their own downfall, as two defensive errors cost them.

The match, which took palace in Wezep during the Light Blues' pre-season training stint in the Netherlands, was a close encounter and two positives for Clement were Tom Lawrence scoring from a free-kick and Danilo returning to the field after months out injured.

But there were worried looks when Nicolas Raskin was forced to leave the stadium in crutches after picking up an injury during the fixture.

Gers have been over in the Netherlands since the start of the week and the links between the club and the country are notable.

Plenty of Dutch stars have lit up Ibrox over the years, not least former player turned manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Arthur Numan and the late Fernando Ricksen were also fan favourites.

But it was another famous trio of players who were present at the match against Ajax, and they all turned their hand to punditry duties.

Former striker Michael Mols, attacking midfielder Ronald de Boer and midfielder Bert Konterman were spotted pitchside doing analysis for Dutch television channel Ziggo Sport.

Mols, 53, has recently fought back from a terrifying health scare in which a brain tumour the size of a golf ball had to be surgically removed.

He was brought to tears when given a hero's welcome back at Ibrox in December.

Last year Konterman, also 53, revealed he planned to become a carpenter.

De Boer, 54, has been involved with the Ajax academy recently as assistant manager of Ajax A1. He had two spells with the Amsterdam club before joining Barcelona and subsequently Rangers during his playing career.

The former playmaker posted several pictures of the trio at work on his Instagram story.

In one, he said: "Good old times with my Rangers FC buddies."

And in another of just him and Mols, he joked: "I give you the ball and you score, Michael!"

Needless to say, Gers fans lapped it up on social media when the club's official Instagram account posted a picture of the three of tuem.

One said: "Three legends, how much it today's market to get those guys?!"

A second said: "Wonderful players."

A third added: "Wow what a great picture."

Another said: "The talent we used to have!"

The image left some fans a bit depressed though, or at least feeling nostalgic.

One said: "What we'd give to have these players now in our starting XI."
