David Tennant’s huge fortune revealed as he rakes it in after Doctor Who return

David Tennant became a household name after acting as the Time Lord in the classic BBC sci-fi series

DAVID Tennant has boosted the value of his personal companies to more than £6million.

The Doctor Who star revealed he has a healthy bank balance in annual accounts lodged with Companies House.

Tennant, 53, has starred in several TV dramas and returned as the Time Lord last year in special episodes to mark the show's 60th anniversary.

Latest accounts for his firm Sandyboy Limited show it currently has assets worth £3,795,982, which includes a £3million property investment portfolio.

The firm owes creditors just over £1.5 million, leaving it with a value of £2,292,897.

Tennant's second company No Mystery Limited has £3,791,920 in the bank after paying off creditors - a rise of more than £500,000 on the previous year's figure.

The actor, who was born in Bathgate and brought up in Paisley, is a director of the companies along with his actress wife Georgia Moffett.

Sandyboy is thought to be named after his father Sandy McDonald, a former Church of Scotland minister who died aged 78 in March 2016.

The company was set up in 2005, the year he took up his role as Doctor Who.

He became a massive hit with fans and helped make the BBC show a ratings winner.

It established Tennant in the mainstream of British actors and helped him land important acting roles such as Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He was in Doctor Who for four years and went on to film BBC drama Single Father, which won him an Royal Television Society award, and United, about the Busby Babes.

Tennant lives in west London with his wife and their five children. He started a relationship with his 39-year-old wife - whose father Peter Davison played The Doctor in the 1980s - after they appeared together in Doctor Who.

Tennant has recently appeared in Amazon Prime fantasy series Good Omens alongside Michael Sheen.

Earlier this month he was honoured with a marble plaque in Paisley's new Walk of Fame.

After the public voted for Tennant, his plaque was placed near to Paisley Grammar School which he attended as a teenager.

He said: "I'm honoured to be included in the Buddie Walk of Fame and thanks to everyone who voted for me.

"I have some great memories of my time at the grammar and I will make a point of visiting the spot when I am next in the town."
