Kelly Ross, 38, travelled on the Happy Bus from Leven, Fife, with her son Conner, 18.

The NHS worker loves going to gigs with her carpet fitter lad and they can't wait to hear Cinnamon as well as his protege Dylan John Thomas, 27, who graced the main stage earlier in the day.

She said: “We saw Gerry at Hampden and he was incredible. It was one of the best gigs I’d ever seen.

“Dylan has also been a massive inspiration for my son going through tough times and we looked forward to seeing him together.

“I have always been a massive fan of Paolo Nutini as a Scottish artist and feel proud of my roots that we have so many other fantastic homegrown acts such as Dylan and Gerry being out there.

“We have had incredible upbeat times - it’s all such feel good music that I think represents Scottish culture and the people brilliantly.”

Kelly also thinks more parents should go to gigs with their kids. She added: “We have gone to a few gigs now together. Our very first was Lewis Capaldi at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Berlin.

“We also went to The Chemical Brothers and 50 Cent in Glasgow. We love bonding over music. He is keen to learn DJ’ing, he has grown up in a musical family as I play drums, a little bit of piano, guitar and sing.

“I’d highly recommend it for other parents - we have hugged, bonded and created moments where we can listen to a song and then look back and remember a special moment through their music.

“Music is an art. Music speaks its own language. It can also be a catharsis for emotions, can be inspirational, and so much more.”

Alison Curran, a business manager from Edinburgh, 36, said: “I am absolutely buzzing for Gerry and Calvin – with both being from Scotland, it was always going to be epic.

“I’d always wanted to see Gerry but couldn’t get tickets to his gigs last year.

“TRNSMT 2023 was our first time at the festival but I had been a regular T in the Park goer years ago.

“But I much prefer being able to stay nearby with a bed and shower nowadays.”

Her financial planner pal Beverley Riddell, 43, from Musselburgh, added: “I am most looking forward to seeing Courteeners.

“I don’t think you can get a better festival anthem than Not Nineteen Forever.

“And its total nostalgia for me from the T in the Park days of seeing them.”

While Rachel Moorhead, a broadcast production student, travelled from Belfast with pal Hannah Eggerton, 20, just to see Gerry.

The music fan, 21, said: “I am most excited to see Gerry Cinnamon as he’s one of my all time favourite artists.

“In 2022 I came to Glasgow for his gig at Hampden Park and since then I've been to Scotland over 10 times for gigs because there really is no crowd like a Scottish crowd.

“I think TRNSMT is such a fun festival and has an amazing atmosphere. I love music festivals because there is no better feeling than hearing your favourite songs live with your best friends.”

Perhaps the most keen reveller was a superfan of The Vaccines.

Mona Montella, 28, from Edinburgh, was the very first person through the gates.

She said: “I’d been queuing since 7.30am and was there before all the staff.

“I was there to see The Vaccines. I’m a superfan and this is my eighth time seeing them.

“And I’m going to see them another eight times.

“I’ve seen them in Luxembourg, Germany, and France so was the shortest distance I’ve travelled to see them.

“It’s the drummers birthday as well so I have a hat - an inflatable crown - to give him.”

Business owner Courtney Doyle, 25, from Glasgow, also couldn’t get enough of the feel good vibes.

She said: “I love Gerry Cinnamon. I have never seen him before although I know all of his songs and one in particular - Belter - as my ex used to say it reminded him of me.”

Insurance worker Olivia Yasmin Ejjaouani, 25, travelled through from Edinburgh and is excited to see Courteeners.

She said: “They’ve been one of my favourite bands since I was younger. They’re the perfect festival band, the songs just get you so buzzing and Liam Fray is an amazing front man too.

“I’ve seen Courteeners live around ten times from T in the Park to Emirates, Old Trafford in Manchester and they’ve always been unreal.

“My boyfriend’s band, Vistas - who are playing TRNSMT as well - have supported them on tour and it was one of the best nights ever for me.”

Fashion student Beth Farren, 19, from Glasgow, said: “I’ve been to TRNSMT four years in a row and have really enjoyed it each time - which is why I can’t stay away.

“I love music festivals because as well as seeing artists you love, you also have the chance to style your outfits and make it like a fashion show.”

Pals, Lana McDougall, Ellie Macdonald, Haley Keicher, Caidy Nelson and Summer Guild, all 16, from Cowdenbeath, were buzzing to experience TRNSMT for the first time.

Lana said: “Liam Gallagher was amazing on Friday night and we can't wait to see Gerry Cinnamon too.”

Friends April Campbell and Niamh MacKinnon, 17, travelled down from Perth to see Gerry Cinammon.
