Urgent recall issued for popular helmet sold on Amazon that ‘presents risk of injuries’

AN urgent recall has been issued for a bicycle helmet that “presents a risk of injuries”.

The brand of the helmet is FROFILE and it was sold on Amazon.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued an alert due to safety concerns.

They warned that the helmet has no energy absorbing material which may lead to the risk of injury in the event of a fall.

The affected product, available in a selection of colours, has two stripes across the helmet.

The number of model is TK01 / WMTK001 (CJYTK01-BlackA, A001, A002, A003, A008, A10, A6868, A012).

The Amazon ASIN number is B08B7W9S1V but the batch number and bar code are unknown.

The CCPC warned anyone who has the product to stop using it immediately.

They suggested contacting Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you.

A CCPC spokesperson said: “A safety issue has been identified with a FROFILE Bicycle Helmet sold on Amazon.

“The product was sold online through Amazon. There are approximately 5 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

“What to do: If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately.

“You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.”

Separately, a number of lighters are being recalled over a risk of burns.

Dublin Trends has issued a recall of an electric lighter due to child safety fears.

The electric lighters were sold in the colours blue and black.

The CCPC said: "The risk presented by the product is burns.

"The product may not comply with the child safety and resistance requirements for lighters, therefore, if the product come into a child’s possession, they may play with it and ignite the flame causing them to suffer burn related injuries.

"The type/number of model is HB-020. The batch number is 1hhnjuuw-black. The brand and bar code are unknown.”
