Sweden is a Scandinavian nation in northern Europe. It is the largest country in the region and has thousands of coastal islands off the mainland. Its standard of living and life expectancy rank among the highest in the world. Sweden has a policy of military non-alignment, although it has participated in some international operations with Nato and other European nations.
