Katie Boulter claimed the most significant British triumph on the women’s tour since Emma Raducanu’s 2021 US Open victory by winning the San Diego Open. The 27-year-old from Leicester battled back from a set down in the final to gain entry to the world’s top 30 for the first time.

Boulter capped the best week of her career with a valiant display, overcoming an initial bout of nerves to defeat Marta Kostyuk, the world No 34 from Ukraine, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. It lifts her 22 spots in the rankings to a new career-high of No 27, putting her in position for a seeding at some of the biggest tournaments on the professional circuit this season.
