Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United first team training after agreeing to draw a line under his argument with Erik ten Hag.

The forward, who has not played for United since August 26 after a public fall out with the Dutchman resulted in him being banished from the first team, is back with the group and it is understood he is ready to feature in the club’s pre-season games.

Sancho inferred that Ten Hag, the United manager, had lied when the manager said the winger was dropped because of his poor performances in training. When the England forward refused to apologise, he was sent to train alone and banished from the first-team facility at Carrington. His exile came to an end in January when an agreement was reached for him to join on loan his former club Borussia Dortmund.

After an extended break, due to Dortmund’s participation in the Champions League final, Sancho returned to United’s training base this week. It is understood Ten Hag and Sancho held talks where the player is said to have reflected on past issues, and both parties agreed to draw a line under the issue.

However, he will not travel to Norway on Monday for the first friendly against Rosenberg on July 15 having returned later than the rest of the squad.

Despite the club’s plan for him to be fully involved with pre-season, with sources insisting that is their sole focus, as they look to move on from the feud, there is no reassurance over his long-term future.

Sancho had been on a list of players the club are looking to cash in on and despite the truce between both parties he could still potentially leave Old Trafford this summer, should the right offer come in for him.

United signed Sancho from Dortmund in July 2021 for £73 million. He made 82 appearances, scoring 12 times and providing six assists before he returned to Germany on loan in January.

He impressed in his second stint at Dortmund and played an integral part in them reaching the Champions League final at Wembley, which led to United getting more cash for the loan. As part of the terms of the loan agreement the Bundesliga side agreed to pay an initial €3.5million (about £3million), which increased significantly because of their progression to the semi-finals and went up even further having reached the final, where they lost to Real Madrid.

Elsewhere at United, Jonny Evans has signed a one-year contract keeping the defender at the club beyond his 37th birthday.

The centre back returned to the club last summer and ended the campaign having played 30 times.

Despite United being in the market for at least one new defender before the new season the club confirmed the Northern Ireland international had been given a fresh deal.

Evans, who spent eight years away from United with West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City, said: “Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead.”
