France

France, officially known as the French Republic, in western Europe has territories overseas. It was first inhabited during the Palaeolithic era and was later settled by the Gauls in the Iron Age. Napoleon Bonaparte established France as a political and military power with the First French Empire in the 19th century. Today its population is about 68 million, and its primary religion Christianity. Its unitary semi-presidential republic, the fifth republic in its history, is headed by the president Emmanuel Macron.
