What's the outlook for gold in 2018, how can you buy it and is BITCOIN a good substitute?
What is our fascination with gold?
Unlike most other assets it doesn’t produce an income and isn’t used for much else beyond looking pretty and shiny.
Yet throughout history and in all cultures, gold has been seen as the ultimate prize.
On this episode of the Big Money Questions we explore why this is, why gold is seen as a good investment and where in the world it is most popular.
Adrian Ash, director of research at BullionVault, also explains some of the different ways it’s possible to buy and hold gold – and why so many people opt to keep theirs in a vault in Switzerland.
He also predicts what the future will hold for the metal, the chances new, previously-undiscovered gold will be found.
We also talk through whether Bitcoin is a good substitute for gold in an investment portfolio – or whether they actually have very little in common at all.
Adrian explains how Bitcoin is eroding more interest in silver than gold and why this is.
