a mini oneshot about nico and thunderstorms
When Nico was younger, he and his mom would watch thunderstorms together on their porch. He never got it at first when his mother would say “Looks like someone is angry, caro mio. Even the sky needs to express emotions.” That line stuck with him throughout all of his life though. He loved thunderstorms. They reminded him of his mom. How they were their thing.
Once he got older and found out it was lightning that killed his mom he hated thunderstorms. Every time one would come he would get angry. Thats when he actually understood the line his mother would say to him. He hated thunderstorms. They reminded him of his mom. And how thats what took her away from him.
On the Argo II, everyone just assumed he had a fear of thunderstorms. But it went much deeper than that.
Sometime after Will and Nico started dating, they went somewhere where a thunderstorm happened. Will comforted Nico as he thought he was scared. He wasnt. So he told Will that. He told Will why he hated them so much. Will was the first person he had told.
Will still comforted him. He took them outside to a porch and sat down. He talked to him about why he loved thunderstorms.
“They are so beautiful and calming. Maybe Zeus is having a tantrum right now but I think that the cloud nymphs up there need time to let themselves decompress too. No one usually hears them so this is their way of communicating. Even the sky needs to express emotions.”
After that, Nico loved thunderstorms again. They reminded him of Will. And now, thunderstorms were their thing.

solangelo headcanons part 6!
- Nico pronounces „no” as italian „no”, not american english one. He’s doing this on purpose but it’s also just his thing.
- He still speaks with accent sometimes, although he is able to pronounce most of words without it.
- Will considers the accent hot and Nico thinks the same about his southern accent.
- Wills accent gets more intense when he talks to Leo or other people from southern USA. It remains strong even a few hours after the conversation.
- Nico does this 🤌🏻🤌🏻 when he explains something or is annoyed at someone. Will is mocking him for that and often does this gesture behind his back when they are both talking to someone or are in a group.
- Nico can’t be a bad swimmer, he’s literally from Venice (that’s canon).
- They both get annoyed when someone understands “Nico is italian” as “Nico is 4th generation of italian immigrants in USA”.
- When Nico has a nightmare, Will wakes up before him because he can feel the sudden change in Nico’s heart rate and quickly comforts him.
- They travel to Venice off season even though the city is closed for tourists, because technically Nico is still a local.
- Will’s family house in Austin feels and looks a lot like house of Alex Claremont-Diaz from Red White and Royal Blue.
- They feel very cozy there.
Headcanon that most of the 7 + Nico, Thalia, and Reyna all have death glares that makes everyone else shit their pants (except for the ppl I mentioned + sally and Estelle and will) so whenever they’re having silly disagreements with eachother one person will pull out the death glare and then the other one will pull out the death glare and they’re just glaring at eachother super intensely and the rest of the campers that don’t know them super well are just like “holy shit they’re gonna murder eachother Chiron stop them” and Chirons just like “Nico please stop having a glare off with Percy all he did was say you should stop spending so much time in the infirmary just because wills there”

solangelo headcanons part 5!
- Will enjoys make up much more than Nico and is definitely up for it for special occasions like festivals and concerts.
- Nico doesn’t really like himself in make up and doesn’t feel comfortable about having it on. It has a lot to do with his past and insecurity. He thinks Will looks gorgeous with make up tho!
- I mentioned Nico having nipple piercing before, but that’s certainly not everything. I imagine him with nostril and some piercings in ears. Maybe also eyebrow piercing?
- Will with earrings for sure too.
- Nico = silver jewelry, Will = golden jewelry.
- This one gonna be more complicated. My headcanon is that Nico doesn’t have dyslexia. It’s canon that it happens sometimes (I knew Frank doesn’t have it). And for me a good explanation was that his native language - italian, is in romance languages group, so his brain doesn’t need to be this tense about trying to comprehend latin! My headcanon is supported by the fact that Frank in canon speaks some canadian-french. My headcanon also includes Will having a severe case of dyslexia and him making lots of spelling mistakes that annoy him and make him insecure about texting people he doesn’t really know well.
But it was ruined as I opened riordanwiki just to make sure about Frank and I discovered that it’s apparently canon for Will to not have it too??😭 Can anyone confirm it? Was it really hinted in the books? I’m going insane.
