While I fully understand that worst Logan is from an entirely different universe and we have no IDEA how differently things played out for him VS our Logan's canon, but I think it's fun to think about WHERE everything went wrong and if we have a glimpse of what it might've looked like.

I was re-watching the 2000s x-men movies and in the second one, the school gets raided. While it was supposedly non-lethal, they shot REAL bullets at any kid that tried to fight back. They (mostly) all get out because Logan was there to fight for them.

But what if, when worst Logan was asked to babysit while the other adults were away, he decided to walk away? And those kids had to fight for their lives, untrained and terrified, screaming out for someone to save them.

The X-Men didn't have to die ALL in one fell swoop, but the government had Scott and Charles, Jean and Storm were totally in the dark.

I think what really made things go to hell was that no one was there to keep Magneto in check. If Logan's blind rampage wasn't bad enough, you can fucking BET Magneto would've retaliated to a school of mutant children being killed.
