Ok so final attempt to begin the bush archives (with probably my longest period of rewilding 😄 ) without being kicked off this hellsite again, pray for me. I've been GOOD and placed an emoji, what more do they want?!?

I’m in a spirituality facebook group where someone asked:

“What do practitioners here think about psychiatric medication?”

Everyone’s comments ranged from saying medications can be temporary supports to flat out stating medications will “destroy everything.”

I felt compelled to weigh in with the post below. I decided to share it here as well.

Hi 👋 physician/surgeon and long time practitioner. Anyone commenting without asking “which medication?” doesn’t have an informed opinion, no matter how well intentioned they may be.

Psychiatric problems are diverse, as are the medications used to treat them. Talking about depression is very different than talking about schizophrenia in this context.

Overall this question is not an easy one to address. Mental health is just as much an art as a science, due to our lack of scientific understanding regarding the nature of consciousness. So right now we just do the best we can, which works for some people and fails others.

My unsolicited advice (without knowing a diagnosis and what medication we are talking about) would be to keep things simple and stable. Don’t feel ashamed for using medications or pressured to get off medications.

I’ve lost or came too close to losing too many friends because they were off their meds. It can be a life or death difference.
