Alice in Borderland Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, and Everything to Know

It's time for the face cards

We're one week away from the premiere of Alice in Borderland. It's officially been two years since we last saw Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) clear a number of deadly games in order to try to return to the world he once knew. Every game corresponds to a card from a deck, and by the end of Season 1 the survivors have cleared the numbered cards. In Alice in Borderland Season 2, Arisu and the remaining players must tackle the face card games.

Netflix's Alice in Borderland, adapted from the manga series of the same name, follows Arisu as he suddenly finds himself in an alternate Tokyo where most humans have disappeared. He has no idea what happened, but must enter the mysterious competitions in order to earn "visas" that will prevent him from being executed. Along the way, he crosses paths with Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), a rock climber who becomes Arisu's partner in figuring out what is going on.

Season 1 of Alice in Borderland premiered in December 2020, and the second installment releases next week. Here's everything to know about Alice in Borderland Season 2.

Alice in Borderland Season 2 Trailer

Netflix dropped Alice in Borderland Season 2's official trailer on Dec. 3 — and whew, there's a lot to unpack. First, we see Arisu and his friends come face to face with a Shirtless Dude in what looks like a game arena. "Who are you guys?" Arisu asks. "Us? We are people of this land," the Shirtless Dude replies. We have no idea what that means, but from the new character stills that Netflix recently shared it seems like this person will be a key figure in Alice in Borderland Season 2. The trailer also teases what appear to be new games in the second installment. In one scene, players cling tightly to ropes hanging from the ceiling. In another, they throw neon balls at each other on narrow bridges. And finally, the trailer shows the ever-so-creepy Mira Kano (Riisa Naka) saying "welcome to the final game venue." What awaits Arisu at this destination?

At Tudum 2022, Netflix dropped the "super teaser trailer" for Alice in Borderland Season 2. The video begins with some scenes from Season 1 — including "Dead or Alive," the very first game Arisu and his friends played. It then shows a montage of different characters we were introduced to in the later stages of Alice in Borderland's first installment. The super teaser trailer also poses the Big Question we all want to know: "If we clear all the games, can we return?" Watch the full video below.

When is Alice in Borderland Season 2 coming out?

Netflix also announced at Tudum that Alice in Borderland Season 2 will premiere Dec. 22, 2022.

Alice in Borderland Season 2 Cast

Some of our favorite characters from Alice in Borderland Season 1 won't be returning for the new installment, but we already knew that — RIP, Chota and Karube! But many of the central players, especially ones we met at The Beach, will be appearing again in Season 2. Kento Yamazaki stars as Arisu, while Tao Tsuchiya stars as Usagi. We'll also see Nijiro Murakami again as Chishiya, and Ayaka Miyoshi as Ann.

Dori Sakurada plays Niragi, and Aya Asahina returns to play Kuina. Season 2 will also feature Sho Aoyagi as Aguni and Riisa Naka as Mira. In March 2022, Netflix posted a video of cast members sharing their thoughts about having finished filming the second season of Alice in Borderland.
