All the Canceled and Renewed TV Shows in June 2024

As we enter the summer months, schools are out and pools are in. But which TV shows will be out and in? June brought a lot of news on that front. AMC announced that Interview with the Vampire will return for a third season, focusing on Sam Reid's Lestat, while HBO has ordered a third season of House of the Dragon, and Netflix has renewed The Upshaws for a final season. Paramount+ has handed out an early Season 3 renewal to Criminal Minds: Evolution, Apple TV+ wants more Palm Royale, and Resident Alien will return for a fourth season — and it's moving from Syfy to USA Network. Plus, The CW has approved at least one more season of All American. 

But it's the end of the road for its spin-off, All American: Homecoming, which will end with its upcoming third season. Ditto for Apple TV+'s The Big Door Prize, which has been done in after two seasons; Max's Tokyo Vice, which has ended after two seasons; Netflix's Arcane, which will end with its upcoming second season; and Starz's Power Book IV: Force, which will end with its upcoming third season. The Boys is also looking toward the finish line; just before the premiere of Season 4, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that Season 5 will be the show's last.

TV show cancellations

• The Big Door Prize, Apple TV+: The Chris O'Dowd-led series lost this round; it's been canceled after two seasons. (June 28, Deadline)
• Power Book IV: Force, Starz: The Power sequel, which follows Joseph Sikora's Tommy, will end with its upcoming third season, which is currently in production in Chicago. (June 13, Deadline)
• The Boys, Prime Video: One month after The Boys was renewed for Season 5, showrunner Eric Kripke announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the superhero show's fifth season will be its last. "Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax," Kripke wrote. The news came just days before the premiere of Season 4. (June 11, X)
• Arcane, Netflix: The acclaimed animated series is ending with its second season, which is set to premiere in November. Co-creator Christian Linke said in a statement that Season 2 brings the story to the "very specific ending" the show's creative team had in mind from the beginning, while adding that there are many other stories to tell in the League of Legends world. The news was accompanied by a teaser for Season 2. (June 11, Netflix)
• Tokyo Vice, Max: The crime drama, which starred Ansel Elgort as an American investigative journalist in Japan, has come to an end after two seasons. At a Producers Guild of America conference, the decision was reportedly described as mutual by Max and the show's creative team, though there's a chance the series could return again down the line. (June 8, Variety)
• All American: Homecoming, The CW: The All American spin-off, which follows athletes at an HBCU, will end with its upcoming third season, which is set to premiere July 8. Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll said in a statement that she was "devastated" by the news. (June 5, Deadline)

TV show renewals

• Perfect Match, Netflix: The hit reality all-stars dating show will continue on for a third season. (June 27, Netflix)

• Babylon Berlin, MHz Choice — FINAL SEASON: The German-made period drama that's become an international hit has been renewed for a fifth and final season. The series previously aired on Netflix, but, as of Season 4, now airs on the globally focused MHz Choice streaming service. (June 25, Deadline)
• The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy, Apple TV+: The travel series hosted by the Schitt's Creek star has stamped its passport for a third season. (June 24, Apple TV+)
• Resident Alien, USA Network: You've heard of blue skies; how about extraterrestrial skies? Resident Alien, starring Alan Tudyk as an alien in disguise, has been renewed for a fourth season, and it's moving from Syfy to USA. (June 18, The Hollywood Reporter)
• House of the Dragon, HBO: Finally, something Team Green and Team Black can agree on! Aegon II Targaryen is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Just kidding. The Game of Thrones prequel will return for Season 3. Fire & Blood author George R.R. Martin previously stated he thinks it will take four seasons to tell the whole story. (June 13, HBO) 
• Smiling Friends, Adult Swim: Here's a reason to smile: Pim, Allan, Charlie, Glep, and even Mr. Frog will continue to spread cheer. Well, maybe not Mr. Frog. That guy is dangerous. Adult Swim ordered a third season of the bizarre animated adult comedy. (June 13, Adult Swim)
• After Midnight, CBS: The Taylor Tomlinson-hosted late night comedy game show will return for Season 2. (June 11, CBS)
• The Upshaws, Netflix — FINAL SEASON: The comedy from Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes has been renewed for a final season, otherwise known as Part 7. Netflix shared that Part 6 is set to premiere in early 2025, followed by a 12-episode-long Part 7. (June 7, Netflix)
• Palm Royale, Apple TV+: Laura Dern and Kristen Wiig's Floridian comedy will chug some more Grasshoppers! Apple has ordered a second season. (June 6, Apple TV+)
• Darby and Joan, Acorn TV: The Australian detective drama starring Bryan Brown and Greta Scacchi will return for Season 2. (June 6, Deadline)
• Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head, Comedy Central: The revival of the animated comedy will return for Season 3, which will air on Comedy Central. The first two seasons streamed on Paramount+. (June 6, Comedy Central)
• Average Joe, BET+: The BET+ drama, starring Deon Cole, has been picked up for a second season. (June 6, Deadline)
• Hart to Heart, Peacock: Kevin Hart's celebrity talk show will return for Season 4, premiering June 20. Ben Affleck, Cynthia Erivo, Andy Samberg, and Niecy Nash are among this season's guests. (June 6, Peacock)
• Criminal Minds: Evolution, Paramount+: One day before the Season 2 premiere, the Criminal Minds revival scored an early renewal for Season 3. (June 5, Paramount+)
• All American, The CW: The football drama was one of the network's biggest bubble shows, especially with new owners Nexstar shaking things up, but it will be back for Season 7 in 2025. (June 3, The CW)
• Penn & Teller: Fool Us, The CW: Abracadabra! The CW just pulled an 11th season of the magic competition series out of its hat. (June 3, The CW)
• The Chosen, The CW: Technically, Season 4 is already out online, but the fourth season of the independently produced biblical drama was picked up to air on The CW on Sept. 1. (June 3, The CW)
