From famous outlaw to famous comedian?
Emile Hirsch, who stars as notorious criminal Clyde Barrow in Lifetime's upcoming Bonnie & Clydeminiseries, will step into the shoes of another real-life figure — John Belushi — in a new indie biopic, TheWrap.com reports.
Best known for his four-year stint on Saturday Night Live as well as his starring roles in Animal House, Belushi died from a drug overdose in 1982. He was 33 years old.
9 bubble shows: Which will survive?
The film will be written and directed by Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness) and will start production in the spring.
Unlike 1989's Wired, in which Michael Chiklis played Belushi, this new film has the cooperation of Belushi's family and friends. Belushi's widow, Judy Belushi Pisano, will produce and his Blues Brothersco-star Dan Aykroyd will executive-produce the project.
Over the years, Hirsch has made a name for himself playing real-life people in films such as Into the Wild and Milk. He next stars in another film based on true events, Lone Survivor, about SEAL Team 10's failed mission to capture and kill a Taliban leader during the War in Afghanistan.
