Set in New York City in the early 1900s, Cinemax's new medical drama The Knick is looking to raise Cinemax to the level of sister network HBO. Starring Clive Owen (Children of Men) as Dr. John W. Thackery, the series follows the exploits of Thackery and the groundbreaking staff at Knickerbocker Hospital as they push the bounds of medicine at a time of high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.
