Ratings: Falling Skies Ends on a High, Teen Choice Awards Fall

Some 5.62 million viewers caught the two-episode finale of TNT's Falling Skies, ending almost as strongly as it started, according to preliminary Nielsen data. Of that total, Sunday night's Season 1 conclusion also grabbed 2.53 million among 18-to-49-year-olds. When the Steven Spielberg-produced show starring Noah Wyle debuted on June 19, it attracted 5.9 million people. But in the wake of V and The Event crashing and burning, the question was whether Falling Skies — about the aftermath of an alien invasion that devastated much of the Earth — would plummet after a promising start.

Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber Win Big at Teen Choice Awards

With five wins each, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift received more trophies than any other individuals at the Teen Choice Awards. Gomez was named Choice TV Actress (for Wizards of Waverly Place) and Choice Female Hottie. With her band, the Scene, Gomez also picked up the Choice Music: Group, Choice Music: Single (for "Who Says") and Choice Music: Love Song (for "Love You Like a Love Song") plaudits. ABC Family Shows Lead Second Wave of Teen Choice Nominations

ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth lead the second wave of Teen Choice Awards nominations with five nods each. The two will go head to head in the Choice Summer TV Show category, and compete against Keeping Up with the Kardashians, So You Think You Can Dance and Teen Wolf. Liars' Troian Bellisario and Lucy Hale (who won last year) are also up for Choice Summer TV Star: Female along with Switched at Birth's Vanessa Marano, Teen Wolf's Crystal Reed and State of Georgia's Raven-Symoné.
