MyCorporation LLC review
MyCorporation is a solid, affordable option for those wanting business formation, trademark, copyright and tax services. While it does not offer a free plan like many of its competitors, it does offer competitive pricing. With four plans and more than 20 additional optional features, customers are able to pick and customize a plan that works specifically for their unique business.
While new business owners with a strict startup budget might want to opt for a company with free LLC formation services, business owners who want an affordable company that provides more than just LLC services that they can grow with would be hard-pressed to do better than MyCorporation.
MyCorporation LLC overview and facts

Unlike half of the LLC services we reviewed, MyCorporation does not offer a free plan or free trial. That said, it offers four affordable pricing plans to let consumers pick the best one for their needs.
MyCorporation is about average in the pricing of its plans. However, some features like EIN and registered agent services are included for free in other companies’ plans, while they are listed as add-on features with an additional price with MyCorporation.
Basic plan
At $99 plus the cost of state fees, MyCorporation’s basic plan will help business owners file articles of incorporation, create business documents including bylaws, sample minutes and stock certificates, and perform a name check to determine the availability of your corporation or LLC business name. Several companies like Active Filings and ZenBusiness will provide these services for free.
Standard plan
MyCorporation’s Standard plan is $124 plus the cost of state taxes. It includes everything in the Basic plan, as well as annual reporting. States require corporations and LLCs to report information about business activities, business locations and the business owner’s most current contact information annually.
Deluxe plan
The Deluxe plan costs $224 plus the cost of state taxes. This plan includes everything in the Standard plan, but adds the privacy and protection of an annual registered agent service. A registered agent will take care of the necessary legal documents required to keep your business in compliance.
Premium plan
At $324 plus the cost of state fees, MyCorporation’s Premium plan offers the highest level of service. Included in this plan are all the benefits of the previous three plans, plus a corporate maintenance package that comes with four business filings per year.
MyCorporation add-ons and optional features
Like many of the top LLC service companies, MyCorporation offers more than just LLC formation services. Customers can choose from a number of optional features to help further customize their plans, such as business maintenance and tax management services. Each add-on feature can be purchased a la carte or in conjunction with one of the four business filing plans.
Some sample add-on features include the following:
Foreign qualification
If you want to do business in another state, you are required to file for a foreign qualification. This add-on sets up the structure needed to pay applicable state fees and taxes if you expand outside your home state. MyCorporation will do this for you for a fee of $199.
Articles of dissolution
In addition to helping business owners create businesses, MyCorporation also helps when it is time to shut down that business. For $129 plus state fees, MyCorporation will create and file your articles of dissolution to formally close a business. Without a formal termination, business owners could still be liable for certain aspects of the business.
Employer identification number
Like most LLC services, MyCorporation helps you apply for your Employer Identification Number (EIN) once your business is formed. The nine-digit number is used to identify employer tax accounts. The EIN application filing is a common optional feature with all the companies we reviewed. MyCorporation charges $79 for this service.
Copyright registration
Another common add-on is copyright registration to ensure your work is protected from unlicensed or uncredited use. MyCorporation will create a copyright registration application to ensure you are the only one who has the right to publish or profit from your work. This additional feature is $99.
MyCorporation customer support and experience
MyCorporation offers customers three ways to get in touch with them: live chat, email or phone. Their phone support is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST.
For times when live support is not available, MyCorporation has a Learning Center on its website full of helpful articles from business formation information to startup tips for small businesses and nonprofits.
MyCorporation has a 4.3-star rating on the consumer rating website, TrustPilot. Eighty percent of the 244 reviews give MyCorporation five stars. The most common accolade is the company’s stellar customer service followed by the speed of the process.
MyCorporation vs. LegalZoom
COMPANY | FREE PLAN | STARTING PRICE | REGISTERED AGENT SERVICE | EIN REGISTERATION | LEGAL ADVICE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
MyCorporation
| No
| $99
| $120 (first year), $179 (renewal)
| Yes: $79
| No
|
LegalZoom
| Yes
| $248
| $299 per year
| Yes: $79
| Yes: Certain plans
|
Both MyCorporation and LegalZoom are two of the top LLC formation services on the market today. Choosing between them can be difficult. However, there are certain key differences that might help you decide.
For new business owners who just need basic LLC filing services, LegalZoom is the obvious choice. LegalZoom’s basic plan creates and files your articles of incorporation that establish your existence as a corporate organization for free. MyCorporation charges $99 for those same services. While both companies’ midtier plans are similarly priced, LegalZoom includes the Employer Identification Number (EIN) in its packages. MyCorporation charges an additional $79 for that service.
However, MyCorporation’s yearly registered agent fees are significantly cheaper than LegalZoom’s fees. Your registered agent services will automatically renew every year to help keep your business in compliance. Over time, the difference between the two companies’ service rates can really add up.
MyCorporation vs. Swyft Filings
COMPANY | FREE PLAN | STARTING PRICE | REGISTERED AGENT SERVICE | EIN REGISTERATION | LEGAL ADVICE |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
MyCorporation
| No
| $99
| $120 (first year), $179 (renewal)
| Yes: $79
| No
|
Swyft Filings
| Yes
| $199
| $199 per year
| Yes: $79
| No
|
It is almost impossible to tell the difference between the two companies. Both Swyft Filings and MyCorporation are affordable LLC formation services that include several additional business formation features such as annual reports, EIN, amendments and name changes, articles of dissolution and foreign qualification.
Swyft Filings offers a free plan, while MyCorporation does not. However, they are both reasonably priced and designed to help small business owners and entrepreneurs get their businesses up and running.
If longevity is important to you, MyCorporation might be your best bet. MyCorporation has been around for more than 20 years, while Swyft Filings opened in 2015. MyCorporation also has one more plan, giving customers more options to choose the plan that works best for their unique circumstances.
Those looking for personalized service, however, might lean toward Swyft Filings. The company offers its customers a dedicated business specialist to work with. MyCorporation does not offer this perk to its customers.
Is MyCorporation right for your business?
MyCorporation is a great option for small business owners or entrepreneurs to begin to create the business of their dreams. It offers affordable LLC formation services that will turn a sole proprietorship or general partnership into a business legally recognized by the state as well as protect any assets the business owner may have.
In addition to LLC services, MyCorporation offers a laundry list of business formation, business maintenance and tax management services such as annual reports, EIN, foreign qualification, articles of dissolution, and amendments and name changes.
For those on a strict budget, it is important to note that you can find the LLC formation services included in MyCorporation’s basic plan for free with other LLC Services. However, if you know you want to grow your company, it might be worth it to start with MyCorporation and use their various other services as you continue to scale your business.
