James Bond and Abraham Lincoln take over BAFTA Britannia awards

James Bond brought the heat at the  BAFTA Britannia Awards, held Nov. 7 at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the evening feted both Craig (on the cusp of his U.S. Skyfall release) and Daniel Day-Lewis, whose portrayal of Abraham Lincoln will hit select markets on Friday. The Britannia Awards will air on BBC America on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

Although they did not walk the red carpet together, Craig joined his wife, Rachel Weisz, inside the Britannias. On the red carpet, he was in high spirits. “I had beer earlier,” Craig said with a mischievous grin. He deserved it – Craig has been promoting Skyfall all over the globe the past two weeks, and called the tour "intense. But it's good when you've got a good movie. It's enjoyable."

On stage, honoree Quentin Tarantino thanked Britain for making his early films so successful. The director arrived straight from editing his new film, Django Unchained (due out on Christmas). "I'm working on it every day," he said on the red carpet. "I think by early next week I'll be locking picture and we'll start doing the sound mix. So far, so good."

Josh Gad presented an award for excellence in comedy to South Park and Book of Mormon creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. His new show 1600 Penn debuts on NBC Jan. 10. Gad plays an unruly first son, Skip. So would his character get along with the Obama girls? "I think that the Obama girls would be far more responsible than Skip and would have to show him the way," he laughed.
