Biden names top White House and cabinet positions

President-elect Joe Biden has chosen federal appeals court judge Merrick Garland as his attorney general.

Julie Su, currently Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, was announced as Biden's Deputy Secretary of Labor on Feb. 10.

Kristen Clarke is President-elect Biden's nominee for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.

Gina McCarthy is nominated as National Climate Advisor.

Brenda Mallory will be Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality.

President-elect Biden's nominee for Secretary of Commerce, Governor Gina Raimondo.

President-elect Joe Biden has chosen former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg to be his transportation secretary.

Lisa Monaco is President-elect Biden's nominee for Deputy Attorney General.

President-elect Joe Biden is expected to nominate Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Fudge has served in the House since 2008. Prior to being elected to Congress, she was mayor of Warrensville Heights, a suburb of Cleveland. If confirmed, Fudge would be the second Black woman to lead HUD.

Wally Adeyemo has been nominated to be Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. If confirmed, Adeyemo would be the first African American to hold the position.

Karine Jean-Pierre will become Principal Deputy Press Secretary. Jean-Pierre was Senior Advisor to President-Elect Joe Biden and Chief of Staff to Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on the Biden-Harris Campaign.

Avril Haines is nominated to be director of national intelligence. If approved, she will be the first woman to hold this role. Haines is the former principal deputy national security advisor to President Barack Obama.

Janet Yellen, former chairwoman of the Federal Reserve, will become Treasury secretary to President-Elect Joe Biden. If confirmed, Yellen would be the country's first woman Treasury secretary.

Rep. Cedric Richmond of Louisiana, who was national co-chairman of Biden's campaign, will become senior adviser to the president and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. He previously served as chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.
