Most gruesome leg injuries in football

Robert Edwards, shown here a University of Georgia training facility in 1999, injured his leg in a recreational flag football game. Edwards tore his ACL, MCL and PCL, damaged a nerve and sliced an artery.

Houston's Patrick Edwards is helped off the field after injuring his leg by running into a cart behind the end zone during a game against Marshall in 2008. Edwards suffered a compound fracture.

Los Angeles Raiders running back Napoleon McCallum gets carted off the field during the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers in 1994. McCallum dislocated his knee, tore three ligaments, suffered nerve damage and tore the calf and hamstring from the bone.

Miami running back Willis McGahee is helped off the field by coaches after sustaining a knee injury during the fourth quarter of the 2003 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. McGahee tore his ACL, MCL and PCL on the play.
