What's next in the world of airplane interiors?

ZIM hopes to win airlines over with their 28” pitch seating layout. The center post for mounting the tray table helps preserve space, but putting a real person in the space doesn’t leave much wiggle (or knee) room. No airline customers are currently announced.

Recaro’s CL3710 seat was introduced at last year’s show. It's not brand new, but is it actually going to be flying with an airline later this year. The adjustable head/neck-rest is a step up from others in the market.

Thompson is still trying to sell its Cozy Suite economy seating concept to an airline. Slightly increased perceived seat width can be achieved but traveling as a group could be challenging.

Sogerma’s new Celeste seat offers a single-piece construction model which is pretty comfortable, so long as you’re the right size to fit their mold. Fliers with shorter legs might not be too happy in this Premium Economy product. No airline customers are currently announced.

Lufthansa’s new Premium Economy seat, built by ZIM, will be installed starting later this year. The leg rest is only available in the bulkhead row; other passengers will have a foot rest mounted to the seat in front of them. There's nice shoulder space in this layout.

The new Mint product from JetBlue has fully flat beds for premium transcon rotues. It goes into service in June of this year. B/E Aerospace showed off a set of the seats, including the staggered layout with a private “suite” for 4 of the 16 seats in the cabin.

Sogerma’s Equinox business-class seat comes in two flavors. This is the “stacked” version which has one passenger (and their feet) above the adjacent seat. The company anticipates fitting an extra row of seats in the cabin thanks to the space savings.

Thales introduced the Immersive concept seat at the show. It features a smartphone-powered interface which can remember your preferences between flights plus eye-tracking for controlling the IFE on the huge screen. Not much likelihood it flies in such a layout, but it is an interesting concept.

More than 200,000 of Recaro’s flagship BL3520 economy seats have been sold to date. The BL3530 updates the seat with a built-in tablet holder, keeping the tray table accessible. Alternate models from Recaro include a built-in screen plus power outlets at eye-level rather than below the seat.
