5 people you meet at a college party

Just remember – in social situations, there’s nothing wrong with standing out. Just make sure you’re standing out for all the right reasons.

My official disclaimer: only read this if you’re in college. If you’re a professor – you don’t want to know. If you’re a parent – it’s the truth. If you’re a student – back me up.

There are clearly chiseled types of people you meet at college parties. This is undeniable. It’s embarrassing, it’s funny and sometimes, it’s a little… vaguely remembered.

Here are the five people you meet at a party:

1. The sloppy girl

My friends and I have deemed a female in this state to be labeled as “busted.” This is a girl who might have drunk a little too much, or whose outfit, hair and/or make-up may no longer be a priority. Being young and wild and free is great – to an extent. Nobody likes or wants to deal with you – not even your friends. Don’t be this girl.

2. The hottie

They can be a frat guy, someone from class or perhaps a person you’ve never seen before who merely takes your breath away; the eye candy of the night, if you will. You’d never actually talk to him or her – without some liquid confidence, at least – except maybe to ask where the bathroom is.

3. The creeper

This guy or girl can’t take a hint. They’re following you, relentlessly eyeing you up, and it’s putting a damper on your night. Don’t fall prey to pity though! Whether they realize they’re being creepy or not – they are. Restrain from giving them your digits unless you want to be reminded each and every weekend that you have one-too-many number one fans.

4. The X without the spot

It may be an ex-friend. It may be an ex-boyfriend. It may even be your ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend. Regardless, you do NOT want to see this person moseying around the frat castle. Be the bigger person and avoid at all costs (and don’t talk about them too loudly).

5. The breath of fresh air

Have you ever made a friend at a party? You know – either you’re in line for a refill, or a friend introduces you to someone they know from class. Regardless, you really like this person.

Unfortunately, many of us have fallen into numerous categories one night too many.

Just remember – in social situations, there’s nothing wrong with standing out. Just make sure you’re standing out for all the right reasons.

Be pretty, look good, dance like a rock star, never say the word ‘rock star’ and play it cool.

And for all of you innocent bystanders out there – enjoy the entertainment. College only lasts four years…
