In wake of Sandy, a 'cruise to nowhere' from Baltimore

USATODAY
In wake of Sandy, a 'cruise to nowhere' from Baltimore: Cruise giant Carnival's last-minute getaway this weekend started Friday afternoon, ends Sunday morning, and was going for $129 per person on the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride.

Looking for an escape from Sandy madness? Cruise giant Carnival is selling a last-minute getaway from Baltimore for the coming weekend starting at $129 per person.

The two-night "cruise to nowhere" on the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride will kick off Friday afternoon and end on Sunday morning.

The $129 per person rate is for windowless "inside" cabins and based on double occupancy. Balcony cabins start at $179 per person, based on double occupancy.

The last-minute voyage was made possible by the cancellation of Carnival Pride's Oct. 28 departure from Baltimore as Hurricane Sandy approached. The ship was unable to leave Baltimore due to the Sandy-caused closure of the Chesapeake Bay to vessel traffic and has been docked at the city's cruise port since the weekend.

Carnival says the Carnival Pride will resume its regular schedule of seven-day cruises to the Bahamas and Florida on Sunday.
