Great B and Bs for fall-foliage viewing: When you say "leaf peeping," many travelers think of New England. But there is some fine foliage viewing in other parts of the USA.

Some B&BS offer views of the hues without leaving the property. BnBFinder compiled a list of such inns, and here are some of its suggestions for rooms with a viewing (check when the foliage is expected to peak when you book, as it can change year to year):

*Lucille's Mountain Top Inn & Spa, Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. You are on a mountain with 360-degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Lounge outdoors on a rocker, play croquet or badminton.

*Wildberry Lodge, Leicester, N.C. Stay in a log lodge in the Great Smoky Mountains near Asheville. The Blackberry Suite has a private porch.

*Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, Hot Springs, Ark. This 12-room lodging in the Ouachita Mountains overlooking Lake Hamilton offers leaf-peeping from private decks. Peak foliage may not be happening till late October or in November.

*ECCE Bed & Breakfast, Barryville, N.Y. It's above the Upper Delaware River, and you can see into Pennsylvania from its porches

.*Berry Springs Lodge, Sevierville, Tenn. In the foothills of the Smokies, near Dolly Parton's childhood home, you can see trees with a leaf coating of many colors and sit by a campfire.

*Run of the River Inn and Refuge, Leavenworth, Wash. BnBFinder says the seven-room inn "rests on a high water channel of the Icicle River and is partially surrounded by the Washington Department of Wildlife bird refuge. You can choose to view the fall colors from a seat on your suite's private deck and the inn's porch."

*Cameron's Crag Bed & Breakfast, Hollister, Mo. Overlooking Lake Taneycomo and away from the hubbub of Branson, you can soak and leaf-watch from a hot tub on your private deck.
