Bret Easton Ellis incredulous again about 'Grey' choice

There he goes again: Brat Pack novelist Bret Easton Ellis is tweeting peevishly about the latest news on the Hollywood version of the best-selling Fifty Shades of Grey books.

After it was announced Monday that Kelly Marcel, co-creator of the TV series Terra Nova, would write the screenplay for the film adaption of the trilogy about a sadomasochistic relationship, Ellis did not react well.

"Kelly Marcel?!? KELLY MARCEL?!? Kelly Marcel is WRITING the script for "Fifty Shades of Grey"?!? THIS is the movie they want to make? ARGH," he tweeted.

Ellis, author of Less Than Zero, has been ranting about Grey on Twitter for months, tweeting his disappointment that he didn't get the screenwriter job and arguing that actor Matt Bomer, mentioned to play lead character Christian Grey, is too gay for the part. This latter tweet did not go over well with some on Twitter.

But on the screenwriting gig, Ellis knows a losing cause when he sees it, since Grey author EL James backed Marcel, a fellow Brit.

"Kelly Marcel: the creator of (gulp) "Terra Nova" and a Mary Poppins bio-pic has been blessed by EL James and no one can stop her. Dear God," Ellis said in another glum tweet.

Meanwhile, there are few facts and mostly rumors attending the Grey movie since Universal Pictures and Focus Features purchased the rights in March for $5 million. A British magazine, Now, even quoted James' husband, Niall Leonard, who hinted that Ryan Gosling would play the lead.
