Is Elton John v. Madonna over?

USATODAY
Madonna performs at the Staples Center on Oct. 10 in Los Angeles. Maybe she has something to cheer about regarding her long-standing feud with Elton John.

Maybe one of the most enduring — and, let's face it, entertaining — celebrity feuds is finally fizzling to an end.

We're talking Elton John (and husband David Furnish) v. Madonna, of course.

Remember back in January during the Golden Globes, when the Material Girl trounced John for best original song, and Furnish fumed about Madge's narcissistic and "desperate" ways?

And then in July, when John went for the jugular, declaring the 54-year-old "a nightmare," that her "career is over" and that, gulp, "she looks like a (expletive) fairground stripper"?

Now Furnish is sounding slightly more friendly about his beloved's longtime sparring partner, telling paparazzi in West Hollywood, Calif., Thursday night: "I think she's a great artist, and I wish her all the best ... She works very, very hard. She is an inspiration to all of us and" — that line again — "I wish her all the best," reports TMZ.

When pushed by the paps, Furnish said — through a tight smile — "Seriously ... I love her."

So is Furnish being sincere, or snarky?
