Prince Charles: Prince Philip is 'being looked after very well' in the hospital

Prince Philip, 98, husband to Queen Elizabeth II, remains in the hospital for the fourth consecutive day.

Monday, as he met with first responders in the flood-ridden village of Fishlake in Yorkshire, England, Prince Charles confirmed his father has not been discharged.

Buckingham Palace stated Philip checked into a London hospital Friday for "observation and treatment."

"He's being looked after very well in hospital," Charles, 71, said in a video obtained by the Daily Mail. "At the moment, that's all we know."

In the Duke of Edinburgh's absence, the royal family is carrying on with the holiday season as usual.

Photos released Saturday night show four generations gathered together in Buckingham Palace to prepare Christmas puddings to help launch the Royal British Legion's Together at Christmas initiative: Queen Elizabeth, plus her three direct heirs: son Prince Charles, grandson Prince William and great-grandson Prince George.

Queen Elizabeth II and her three direct heirs, Prince William, Prince George and Prince Charles, prepare special Christmas puddings in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace, as part of the launch of the Royal British Legion's Together at Christmas initiative.

The queen attended church Sunday near her country estate in Norfolk, where the royals will spend Christmas. The family is expected to attend another service on Christmas morning – it is not clear whether Philip will be released in time to join them.

"The Duke of Edinburgh (traveled) from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition," Buckingham Palace said in a statement Friday. "The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor."

The London hospital is hours away from Norfolk. It was not immediately clear why that hospital was chosen for treatment, and the palace declined to issue further details.
