Jamie Foxx scores ABFF Honors award from surprise guest Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio presents Jamie Foxx with his award at the 2020 ABFF Honors.

Jamie Foxx earned a big award at the 4th annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors Sunday, and a special guest was in attendance to present it to him.

Leonardo DiCaprio, 45, surprised his "Django Unchained" co-star by presenting him with the Excellence In The Arts award at the event, which celebrates Black culture and artists in the entertainment industry.

Foxx, 52, spoke about diversity in Hollywood in his acceptance speech.

"You always need black people… You can't slip on your talent and that's why it means so much to get this award," he said. "We gotta quit thinking so much about the Oscar and celebrate our own thing, celebrate our own blackness."

"That's coming from a man – well, I have an Oscar, but," he continued, causing the crowd to roar. "I was nominated twice in the same year, but still! Stop thinking about it so much!"

Foxx won an Oscar in 2005 for his role in "Ray." He was nominated the same year for supporting role in "Collateral."

DiCaprio, who watched Foxx from the side of the stage while he gave his speech, said Foxx lifts up everyone around him in any social setting, describing him as a "magnetic force in any room that he inhabits."

The ABFF Twitter page also shared Foxx's "impromptu concert" onstage, where he led the crowd in singing his song "Blame It," featuring T-Pain.

"Blame it on the booze / Got you feeling loose / Blame it on 'tron / Got you in the zone," he sang into the mic before turning it towards the audience who finished the lyric to the 2009 hit.

Other award highlights from the night included “Harriet” star Cynthia Erivo, who took home the Rising Star award and Lena Waite, who took home the Industry Renaissance award.

Morgan Freeman also attended as a special guest to present the Movie of the Year award to "Just Mercy."
