On the heels of a new single and upcoming tour, The Black Keys have finally made the exciting — but unsurprising — announcement that they’ve recorded a new album.

But one aspect is unexpected — the inspiration behind the album’s title, “Let’s Rock,” and its cover art. It’s tied to the 2018 execution of Tennessee death row inmate Edmund Zagorski. His last words before being executed were, “Let’s rock.”

Frontman Dan Auerbach revealed the origin during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Zagorski’s execution —  the first by electrocution in Tennessee since 2007 — also inspired the album cover, which features an electric chair.

“Let’s Rock” will be released June 28 on Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label. The band has shared a second track from the album, “Eagle Birds” and will play Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 1.
