The Critics Choice Awards are seeking to fill the awards show void created when NBC pulled the plug on broadcasting the 2022 Golden Globes â which also announced nominees on Monday â following a controversy sparked last February by a Los Angeles Times investigation. The report detailed alleged financial and ethical lapses among the 87 members of its voting body and revealed that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had no Black members. Since then, the group has added 21 new members from underrepresented groups, reworked its bylaws and teamed up with the NAACP.
The Critics Choice ceremony has moved into the Globes' Jan. 9 broadcast slot, airing live on CW and TBS. Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer will co-host, with 500 broadcast, radio, print and online entertainment reporters and critics voting on the selections.
