"Mr. Robot" aired its final episode on Sunday, and the finale left fans feeling sad, confused and grateful.

The drama featured Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a brilliant hacker dealing with anxiety and depression. He won an Emmy for lead actor in a drama series in 2016. Christian Slater plays the title character.

"You hear that? that's the sound of me absolutely sobbing over this masterpiece of a series," tweeted fan @darlenesdom along with a clip of one of the final scenes.

"The Mr. Robot finale seemed a little too safe & sentimental, & leaves way too many questions. It’s still a great show—but I think it would’ve been way better if they’d condensed it into 2 seasons & stopped Esmail from directing every episode after the flawless, wonderful Season 1," wrote @Randy_Schiff.

"Mr Robot series finale just (blew) my mind," wrote @sabatabooi. "I have so many questions though."

"#MrRobot marketing team: Everything will be answered," tweeted @destpar234 alongside a confused meme. "*Me, 40 minutes into the series finale*"

Other supporters praised the finale of "Mr. Robot" as "moving" and "brilliant." .

"The series finale of #MrRobot was one of the most deeply moving experiences I’ve ever had watching television," wrote @max_inreallife. "@samesmail crafted a perfect ending and @carlychaikin’s performance literally made me cry harder than I have in years."

"Can't believe #MrRobot is over. Fitting ending and brilliant acting throughout #MrRobotFinale," wrote @AdamOfWilliams.

"This series, #MrRobot will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time! The finale was superior, a masterpiece! #MrRobotFinale," proclaimed @SiWeCan

"Mr. Robot" actors Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallström also chimed in to share their thoughts on the finale.

"Couldn’t be more proud of not only the show, but how the show ends. I hope you all enjoyed it too," Chaikin tweeted. Goodbye, friend."

"Thank you friends. Forever grateful!" wrote Wallström.

"Mr. Robot" became a phenomenon in its first season, drawing praise for its examination of cutting-edge technology and cultural issues relating to hacking, cybersecurity, corporate power, privacy and identity. In later seasons, both ratings and the show's prominent position in the cultural conversation faded.
