'The Voice': Kelly Clarkson pounces after Nick Jonas 'really messed up' his pairings, again

Kelly Clarkson is on the prowl on "The Voice." 

The "American Idol" alum landed a coveted four-chair-turn during the second and final round of knockouts Monday after Nick Jonas "really messed up" his pairings (again).  

Jonas matched up Zae Romeo, 21, and Rachel Mac, 16, to showcase his team's youth, but instantly regretted it.

"They are two of my youngest and two of my favorites, which makes me feel like an idiot for putting them together. Oops," Jonas said. Mega-mentor Snoop Dogg gave his two cents and said he would "hate to be the one to pick between these two," Jonas agreed: "So would I."

(If this sounds familiar, it's because Jonas made the same error during the Battlestwo weeks ago. He called himself an "idiot" then, but apparently didn't learn from his mistake.)

Romeo sang Børns' "Electric Love" during the head-to-head knockout with Mac, who performed a rendition of "Foolish Games" by Jewel.

"I have been moved," Clarkson said following Romeo's performance. She told Mac, the youngest singer in the competition, "I cannot believe you are 16. It’s outrageous."

Shelton taunted, "I’m interested to see what Nick is going to do here."

Jonas selected Mac as the winner, calling her his "darkhorse." That left Romeo on the brink of elimination, but not for long. Clarkson instantly hit her steal button. 

"That’s a no brainer. I turned for you in the Blinds, I loved you in the Battles from home in my PJs," Clarkson said, referring to her brief hiatus due to illness. "Your voice gave me goosebumps the entire performance."

"Zae is incredible," she added. "I think Nick really messed up there."

Monday's episode also marked the start of the four-way knockout. 

Here’s how it works: The four artists saved by their coaches in the Battles will compete for America's vote. The singer that receives the most votes will advance to the live playoffs. 

"We literally have four very different styles and four great voices giving it their all," Jonas said. "That’s what this show is about. It’s up to you at home to decide who stays in this thing." 

Legend called the four-way knockout the "most stressful part" of the competition. No pressure. 

Team Legend's Carolina Rial sang "Anyone" by Demi Lovato; Team Clarkson's Savanna Woods performed a rendition of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun"; Team Shelton's Emma Caroline offered up a take on Brooks & Dunn's "Neon Moon"; and Team Jonas' Devan Blake Jones sang "Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles.

Legend said Rial's powerful performance was a "plea to America." Shelton said he "couldn’t be happier" with Caroline's rendition. Clarkson applauded Woods "incredible" range, while Jonas said Jones delivered the "best vocal performance we’ve heard from you so far."

Voting is open on "The Voice" official app and NBC.com/VoiceVote until 7a.m. ET Tuesday. The winner of the four-way knockout will be announced at the start of the live shows in May.
