Texas A&M gets first SEC win against imploding Arkansas

Texas A&M has its first Southeastern Conference victory, and Arkansas' season is officially a dumpster fire.

The former Southwest Conference rivals met in College Station in a key game for both teams in the SEC. Only one showed up as the Aggies rolled to a 58-10 victory.

The Razorbacks, who started the season ranked No. 10, have lost four consecutive games. Their only win came against FCS school Jacksonville State.

The problem was again its defense that entered ranked 107th in scoring and 99th in total defense.

Freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel, playing in his fourth game, set a Texas A&M record with 453 passing yards. He added three touchdowns throwing and one running as the Aggies scored the game's final 51 points.

Texas A&M will now head to the road for the first time in the SEC.

At 3-1, the Aggies have to feel good about their prospects for a decent season. Manziel will only get better with more experience, and they can build momentum by beating Mississippi on Saturday.

Where does Arkansas go from here?

It's hard to believe this team that started the offseason thinking national championship might struggle to reach a bowl game. But with games at Mississippi State and South Carolina and a home date against LSU looming in November, it is possible.

Running back Knile Davis probably had the biggest understatement of the day.

"The season's going south, but you've got to resurrect it," Davis said after the loss, according to Arkansas News.

If the season were going any further south, the Razorbacks would be playing home games in Key West.
