Regular officials miss blatant pass interference calls in the end zone too

USATODAY
Marques Colston pushes off for a touchdown.

When the NFL "apologized" for Monday night debacle in Seattle, the initial statement only acknowledged the error in not penalizing Golden Tate for pushing off before he made his game-winning "touchdown" catch against the Green Bay Packers.

The underlying implication was that the simultaneous catch mistake could have been made by any official, real or replacement. But the blatant pass interference call in the end zone? That was inexcusable!

And the NFL was right. Never -- NEVER! -- do you see officials fail to flag a play in which a wideout pushes away from his defender with two hands before catching the ball. It simply wouldn't happen, not in the regular NFL.

Here, check out this play from Sunday's game against those same Packers in which Marques Colston does nothing of the sort. He doesn't take both his hands, put them on the back of Morgan Burnett and shove the Packers safety to the ground, thus clearing himself for an easy TD grab. One of those two officials surely would have seen that! They're the regular refs!

It's good to have you back, regular officials. At least when you're blowing calls now, we know that it's due to incompetence, not ignorance.
