Cal Ripken, Jr. identified as 'Carl' on TBS

USATODAY
Cal Ripken poses with his keepsake statue as part of the Orioles legends ceremony prior to a game against the New York Yankees at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Calvin Edwin Ripken, Jr. has been called a lot things during his career: Cal, Iron Man, that guy who played in a lot of baseball games.

But this might be the first time he's been called Carl.

Ripken was making just his second appearance as a game analyst for TBS when the network mistakenly identified the Hall of Famer as Carl.

"I know I'm not polished or experienced in the booth," said Ripken before his postseason debut. "But I'm a very analytical person and player and maybe that can come out more than in the studio, which is meant to be more entertaining."

Hey, with a little more experience they might start calling him Cal.
