Colts' Chuck Pagano from hospital room: 'All is good'

Mike Chappell, The Indianapolis Star
Chuck Pagano emailed The Indianapolis Star, letting the newspaper know that he's doing well in the hospital.

Chuck Pagano is in the fight of his life, but remains upbeat and with divided attention.

"All is good,'' the Indianapolis Colts coach wrote in an email response to The Indianapolis Star. "Best care in the world. These people do so much for so many.

"Most selfless people I know. Thanks to all at IUH!!''

Pagano was responding from his hospital room at IU Health Simon Cancer Center. He's receiving treatment after being diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Pagano has been hospitalized since Sept. 26.

The first-year coach isn't expected to resume full-time duties this season but has kept in constant contact with interim coach Bruce Arians, players and his support staff.

One of the early concerns of Pagano was the lack of access to NFL Network in his hospital room. Owner Jim Irsay quickly remedied that.

"Nice to be able to watch NFL Network,'' Pagano wrote. "Priceless having Jim Irsay as your friend, owner and LEADER!!

"Thanks to all for love and support. Could not do this alone!''

Pagano's Colts carry on in his absence Sunday afternoon when the Green Bay Packers visit Lucas Oil Stadium. He urged the sellout crowd to help inspire his team to an upset.

"May the 12th Man be stronger than ever,'' Pagano wrote. "You will make a difference. Need to hear you from C23! Room at Simon Cancer Center.

"LET'S HUNT!''
