Watch: Chargers safety Bigby's unique pregame intro

Chris Strauss, USA TODAY Sports
San Diego defensive back Atari Bigby is now in his eighth NFL season.

It started with "The U" and "THE Ohio State University" before evolving to high schools and even Pop Warner teams. But now NFL players are just making up whatever they please during the starting lineup introductions of primetime network games. We've seen this before with alma maters like Ike Taylor's "Swaggin" and Terrell Suggs' "Ball So Hard University" but San Diego safety Atari Bigby's sleepy declaration of matriculation from the "University of Jah, Rastafari" during the Sunday night contest against New Orleans might be the best of them all.

While the 31-year-old actually attended the University of Central Florida, Bigby is indeed a devout Rastafarian. Born in the same Jamaican parish as world record sprinter Usain Bolt, Bigby moved to Miami when he was four years old and began growing his dreadlocks when he was 15. According to a 2007 Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel story, Bigby wanted to play for the University of Miami as a high school senior but chose not to pursue an offer when he learned that all incoming freshmen had to shave their heads. Bigby signed a two-year contract with the Chargers in March.
