Carl Edwards, Joey Logano caught up in early crash
Carl Edwards, Joey Logano and Cole Whitt were the first victims in Sunday's race at Talladega Superspeedway when they crashed in turn 4 on lap 17.
Edwards' car suffered damage in the rear but continued. He lost three laps for repairs and later lost another lap on the track. Logano lost a lap. Whitt went to the garage.
Whitt was one of only six drivers entering Sunday's race who had not been involved in a crash in any of the three previous restrictor-plate races. Of course, this was Whitt's first restrictor-plate race of the season.
Later, Matt Kenseth was running up front and got pushed a little from the back by teammate Greg Biffle. Kenseth made a cool save going close to 200 mph, easing his car onto the apron and then
sliding back up onto the track.
The 2.66-mile tri-oval is the site of the fourth of 10 Chase for the Sprint Cup races.
