Giants DE Osi Umenyiora enjoyed good news on and off the field Sunday.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.— New York Giants DE Osi Umenyiora's 5-year-old son, Tijani, is recuperating after being sent to the hospital with what coach Tom Coughlin believed to be an asthma attack.

In an email to USA TODAY Sports, Umenyiora wrote, "He is better. Thanks."

Umenyiora rushed out of the postgame locker room following Sunday's 41-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns upon learning about the situation.

It's unclear at this point what sparked the attack, though the positive turn is certainly welcome news.

The Giants later reported that Tijani Umenyiora was released from the hospital.
