Upsets and some surprising margins had the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll moving teams like chess pieces.

It appears that it will take more than a day of upsets to jackhammer Alabama out of the top spot. They received 58 of 59 first-place votes. Oregon, which got the other top vote, remains second.

But there is Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina Gamecocks moving three spots to No. 3 and West Virginia three spots to No. 4.

Heck, if you blinked you would have thought it was the 1990s with Notre Dame (seventh) in the top 10.

With so many undefeated teams out there, it's hard to believe a one-loss team will make the title game, but USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas and Georgia are on that list.
